Meet Emmie: RVA Cheese Girl
Born and raised in Alabama, Emmie was born with a natural talent for hosting, a quintessential Southern girl. From weekly happy hours with her girlfriends to holidays with her family, Emmie always looked forward to treating her family and friends through food and drinks. These things bring people together and make memories happen.
Emmie found her way to the RVA area during high school. She graduated from Thomas Dale High School in Chester, VA in 2012 and received a scholarship to Richard Bland College in Petersburg, Virginia. She earned her associate’s degree and then transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated with honors from the VCU School of Business in 2016.
After college, she began to discover a passion for cheese and wine. She visited winery after winery, in search of the perfect charcuterie board to accompany her adventures. Her pursuits always left her underwhelmed and dissatisfied. Naturally, the driven hostess decided to make her own. She not only made her own cheese boards, but she set out to make the BEST boards in Richmond. She studied pairings and sharpened her craft to create charcuterie boards, each more beautiful than the next.
Soon, friends and family wanted their very own. Her passion grew into a business. Emmie crowned herself as RVA’s Cheese Girl. What started as a side hustle to her traditional job as a commercial insurance broker, quickly turned into a side sprint. Emmie has managed to grow her business at a rapid pace and this cheese queen has much more up her sleeve for the future.
She continues to be driven to curate a product that brings people together during meaningful moments in their lives. When Emmie is not slinging cheese, she likes to try new Richmond restaurants, indulge in reality TV, play tennis, take walks along the James River, and host her friends and family.
